Delores Culmer, age 38, of Silver Spring, Maryland was sentenced Monday to five months home detention and two years probation after pleading guilty to obtaining unauthorized information from protected government computers for her personal financial gain or commercial advantage.

Delores Culmer pleaded guilty in April.

The plea seal states that she improperly accessed law enforcement databases at least 20 times.

She faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Former Montgomery County cop pleads guilty

A 37-year-old Montgomery County police officer facing drug and fraud charges after allegedly using a police computer system to help a drug trafficker has pleaded guilty.

Delores Culmer, of Silver Spring, pleaded guilty Wednesday to obtaining unauthorized information from protected government computers.

From August 2008 to September 2009, Culmer, who was then a Montgomery County police officer, gained access to law enforcement computers to get information on people for personal use, according to her plea. For example, she obtained information about people who had “drug dealings” with a co-conspirator, authorities previously alleged.

In her plea, Culmer stated that she used law enforcement computers to do warrant checks on her boyfriend or a person who had a dispute with her sister. She also performed unauthorized vehicle checks on her boyfriend’s brother.

Culmer faces up to five years in prison. She is scheduled to be sentenced on June 13.
