WASHINGTON (AP) - A member of the MS-13 gang in Washington has been sentenced to life in prison plus 125 years for his role in the 2007 killing of a rival gang member.
Twenty-two-year-old Jose Gutierrez was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Washington.
Gutierrez was convicted by a jury of 16 counts, including murder in aid of racketeering, following an eight-week trial that ended in December.
Two other MS-13 members involved in the death of Edwin Ventura also were convicted during the trial. William Cordova was sentenced in March to life in prison plus 150 years. Melvin Sorto, who drove the getaway car during the shooting death of Ventura, is set to be sentenced Wednesday.
