April 29, 2011 - 02:42 pm
A man accused of stabbing his brother to death in Adams Morgan was sentenced Friday to spend 7 and ½ years behind bars.
Deon Thornton, 21, of Washington, previously pleaded guilty in District Superior Court to a charge of voluntary manslaughter while armed.
Authorities said Thornton lived with his brother, Derrick Thornton, in an apartment on the 2200 block of Champlain Street NW. The pair were drinking alcohol on the night of Feb. 11 and got into a fight.
At the plea hearing, Thornton admitted that he stabbed his brother multiple times in the chest.
