Police have charged two 20-year-old men in the murder of Alex Roman, 18, the first homicide of 2010 in Montgomery County.
Timothy D. Jackson, 20, from the 19800 block of Wheelwright Drive in Montgomery Village, and David James Wilson, age 20, from an unknown address, were both charged late Friday evening with first-degree murder.
Montgomery County police say that during the past several weeks, detectives received information from various sources that provided specific details related to the murder of Roman, and two suspects were developed.
Police say the motive for the homicide was based on Wilson's belief that Roman had been stealing from him.
Wilson, Roman, and Jackson met up in the Montgomery Village area and then drove to the 4900 block of Brookville Road to smoke marijuana, police say. While there, both Wilson and Jackson shot Roman and then fled.
Early in the morning of January 12, a motorist saw an unresponsive body lying in a driveway in the 4900 block of Brookville Road, and called police.
Fourth District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded. The victim, later identified as Alex Roman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the preliminary stages of the investigation detectives believed that the murder was not a random act. There had been reports of drug use in the area and it was being investigated as to whether any drug activity was linked to Roman's death.
Jackson and Wilson are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
