Vincent Gray hiring probe: Testimony to resume
WASHINGTON (AP) - The D.C. Council is continuing its investigation of Mayor Vincent Gray's hiring practices.
Judy Banks, Gray's former human resources director, is scheduled to testify Friday before a Council committee that's looking into allegations of cronyism and nepotism.
Three witnesses have contradicted Banks' previous testimony about her level of involvement in some of Gray's questionable hires.
But several other key witnesses have yet to appear before the Committee on Government Operations and the Environment and will not testify Friday.
Those include Sulaimon Brown, a former mayoral candidate who accused Gray of promising him a job and giving him cash to keep his campaign afloat last year. Council member Mary Cheh, who chairs the committee, has said Brown appears to be intentionally avoiding service of a subpoena.
