April 28, 2011 - 06:56 am
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Wallace Loh was appointed president of the University of Maryland last August and started work on Nov. 1. But he has not yet been formally sworn in.
That changes Thursday, when university officials and other dignitaries gather for Loh's inaugural convocation and investiture ceremony.
Before coming to Maryland, Loh most recently served as executive vice president and provost at the University of Iowa. He's also served as a law professor at several institutions.
Loh was born in Shanghai, China, and emigrated as a child to Lima, Peru. He moved to the United States for college.
