A friendship formed from pain
May 9, 2011 - 06:19 pm
At age 10, London Perry lost fingers in a Christmas firecracker episode. Since then, the bones have grown but the skin hasn’t. So she had surgery last month.
The emotional wounds forced her to quit her job, not go to prom and even avoid school.
“If I get married, this is my ring finger hand. Is my husband gonna want to put a ring on that?” she asked.
ABC7 put London in touch with Wyzhir Johnson. Wyzhir lost a hand and was determined to go to prom. During their first face-to-face meeting, they exchanged stories and bonded over the shared experience.
By the end of the meeting, London said she considered returning to school and the pair vowed to build a friendship.
