An overnight fire at the Little Hunting Park Pool and Tennis Club in Alexandria has closed the swimming pool at the facility for two to three weeks, pool management said.
The fire, which management suspects was an electrical fire, began at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday. Flames broke out in a building, located in the 7000 block of Canterbury Lane, that houses bathrooms and showers.
The damage is estimated to be over $50,000.
Fairfax County Fire officials say plans to reopen the pool will be discussed when the facility’s home owner’s association meets the county’s inspector on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
