Annandale woman wakes up to find man in bedroom with hands on her neck
Fairfax County Police are investigating an incident in Annandale in which a woman woke up early Wednesday morning to find a man with his hands around her neck.
Police say that they responded to an apartment in the 4100 block of Wadsworth Court just before 1 a.m., where a 25-year-old woman claimed a man was standing over her bed with his hands on her neck. The suspect fled through an open bedroom window after she screamed.
The victim was uninjured. Authorities describe the suspect as a black male in his late 20s, about 5'9" tall and 160 pounds. They say he was wearing dark clothing and that it does not appear he was armed.
Many families live at the Fairmont Gardens apartment complex. Some said there were a number of robberies in past years, but that has subsided thanks to more frequent patrols by building security.
Some residents work at a stretch of fast food restaurants nearby and often walk home late at night. Police are warning all residents to be cautious. The investigation is ongoing.
