Beltway Outer Loop crash spills fuel, briefly closes roadway
May 27, 2011 - 11:55 am
An accident involving two tractor trailers closed a portion of the Outer Loop of the Beltway near Alexandria Friday afternoon.
All lanes of the Outer Loop reopened between Telegraph Road and Route 1 at about 1:20. That stretch that was closed for a period of time while hazmat crews cleaned up about 60 gallons of fuel that spilled onto the highway.
There were no injuries, authorities say.
For a time, delays on the highway extended all the way past the Van Dorn Street exit and close to the I-395/I-95 interchange.
