ABC News reports that Osama bin Laden plotted terror strikes against the U.S. on the Fourth of July, Christmas and New Year’s, as well as the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

This new information was provided to ABC News by a number of sources, the station said. It offers a chilling glimpse into bin Laden's apparent plans and the operatives who would carry out his wishes.

According to ABC News, bin Laden wanted to pull off a large scale attack on U.S. soil on or before the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Potential targets included trains, planes or buildings.

"It's a little unnerving,” said D.C. resident Conor McEvily.

U.S. intelligence officials have also uncovered a list of al Qaeda operatives, some of whom may already be in the U.S., said Brad Garrett, a former special agent with the FBI.

While ABC News reports that there is no hard evidence of an imminent attack, evidence gathered from the compound where bin Laden was killed indicates he had interest in carrying out violence on Fourth of July, Christmas and New Year’s.

"I feel very confident that Washington is safe," said D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier.

The U.S. intelligence community is reportedly working at a feverish pace to identify and track down bin Laden operatives.
