Census: More adults living with parents in Montgomery County
May 30, 2011 - 09:52 am
SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - Montgomery County planning officials say recent U.S. Census data show that more young adults are living with their parents, likely due to economic challenges.
Officials say the number of adult children living a home in the county grew 36 percent from 2000 to 2010.
The county also saw a 19.3 percent increase of households headed by women in the past decade. Over the same period, there was also a 10.6 percent increase in the number of households led by females with children.
Planners and demographers drew these figures from the U.S. Census release of profiles focused on household characteristics and ages.
