On Tuesday afternoon, Pam Thomas thought she had a beautiful summer day at the National Zoo. She was able to chaperone a field trip for her nephew’s elementary school.

So after loading the kids onto a bus to leave, she went to return a stroller. But when she got back to the bus pick up area, her bus was gone. And she couldn't believe it.

Apparently, the supervising teacher, Janice Boisen, allegedly took a vote to leave her at the zoo. Thomas’ 5-year-old nephew Michael and 3-year-old niece Michaela witnessed the whole thing.

“Ms. Boison said ‘put your hands up, and say bye bye to aunt Pam, and let's leave her.’ It was a vote,” Michaela said.

Thomas left her cell phone, money and kids on the bus. Luckily, a zoo employee gave her a Metro ticket and she took it back to Germantown.

On Wednesday, the principal of Clopper Mill Elementary offered an apology. She said the school will investigate the incident. But she said the teacher claims Thomas went missing for half an hour, they went looking for her and couldn’t find her.

“That should have not happened and in hindsight I wish I had been contacted,” said Stephanie Curry, principal of Clopper Mill Elementary.
