Crews rescue suspected burglar stuck in duct work in Laurel
A suspected burglar was rescued Thursday after he became stuck in the duct work of a Jerry's Subs & Pizza carryout in Laurel.
He was found with his legs dangling over the stove and is believed to have been in the duct for up to eight hours.
Prince George’s County Police responded to the store at 9711 Fort Meade Road shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday.
Authorities said the man, in his 30s, tried to get into the carry-out restaurant by entering through a roof hatch. As he made his way down the cooking ventilation system, he became stuck.
The man complained of having difficulty breathing. Paramedics helped him by sending down an oxygen mask to him through the roof hatch.
Fire officials cut away a portion of the cooking ventilation hood and released the man. He was evaluated by paramedics and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. Law enforcement officers accompanied the man on the way to the hospital.
