May 4, 2011 - 08:51 am
A crossing guard is in serious but stable condition after being hit by a bus early Wednesday morning in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County Police say.
The female guard was helping a student cross the street near Furnace Avenue and Sunny Brook Drive when a bus, which had just come to a a stop, made a left hand turn and struck her.
The guard was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Police don't believe speed nor alcohol were factors, but they believe that the bus driver failed to yield to the crossing guard.
The investigation is ongoing.
