National Geographic Bee: 13-year-old Texas boy named winner

WASHINGTON - A 13-year-old boy from Texas has won the National Geographic Bee in D.C.
Tine Valencic of Colleyville beat out nine other finalists to win the final round of the bee. He will receive a $25,000 scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
The 10 finalists competed Wednesday in the final round of the bee, which was hosted by Alex Trebek of the "Jeopardy!" game show. Nilai Sarda, an 11-year-old boy from Georgia came in second. Stefan Petrovic, a 13-year-old boy from Kansas, came in third.
