Several hundred law enforcement agents kicked off National Police Week on Sunday with the annual Law Ride.

On Sunday morning, Ride4Cops, led by former police officer Harry Herington, rode from RFK Stadium, past the U.S. Capitol and to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

The ride culminated with a ceremony at the memorial to honor police officers who have lost their lives serving the people of Washington. The organization also presented contributions to the Washington chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

Earlier this week, a ceremony was held at the memorial for Hector Ayala, who died in April 2010 while responding to a call in Montgomery County.

Other fallen officers honored include Wesley Brown of the Maryland State Police, Dean Ridings of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's office and Paul Dittamo of the Metropolitan Police Department, all of whom lost their lives in the line of duty in the past year.

The donation to C.O.P.S. will assist the survivors of fallen officers, while the gift to the Memorial Fund will help maintain the memorial.

Ride4Cops has already held 13 charity rides across the country. Five more are planned for the rest of the spring.
