D.C. region's Asian population on the rise

WASHINGTON (AP) - Four out of ten Asian Americans live on the West Coast, but the Washington region has become a hub for Asians on the East coast.

According to a Washington Post analysis of census figures, the number of Asians in the region has grown 60 percent over the past decade to 570,000.

Chinese are most prevalent in the District and in Montgomery County. Filipinos are the largest group in Prince George's and Charles counties.

Indians have been moving to Loudoun and Fairfax counties and have become the largest and fastest-growing group of Asians in the area. Meanwhile, Koreans are the largest group in Centreville, where 26 percent of the population is Asian.
