A 34-year-old man has been indicted for a home invasion that ended with three people slain in Springfield in 2008.
A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia indicted Delante Cook, of Prince George’s County, of taking part in the robbery of several men who the suspect believed was dealing drugs.
"Mr. Cook is accused of participating in a meticulously planned robbery that ended with the brutal stabbing deaths of three men in Springfield," said U.S. Attorney MacBride. "After surveilling their intended victims for days, Mr. Cook and others allegedly armed themselves with weapons, disguised themselves as police officers, robbed their victims in their home, and then viciously stabbed all three to death. The Fairfax County Police Department did a terrific job in following leads, connecting the dots, and cracking this case."
Cook, Jelani Slay and other co-conspirators are accused of targeting Ryan and Terence Strope in a home invasion robbery, authorities allege. On Nov. 19, 2008, the conspirators went to the home and killed Ryan Strope, Terence Strope, and another man, Andres, Yelicie, during the robbery, authorities said.
The suspects were dressed as law enforcement officers at the time of the incident.
An additional charge of use of a firearm in a crime of violence was added June 30 to the original conspiracy and robbery charges.
Slay was shot and killed by an off duty MPD officer in the early morning hours of March 8th, 2009 in the 5300 Block of B Street SE. Slay worked as a Metrobus driver at the time of the incident.
