Kyle Alec Rowley killed in Fairfax crash
A young man was killed in a car crash on Route 7 Sunday night. Nineteen-year-old Kyle Rowley of Herndon was hit by a car and pronounced dead at the scene.
Rowley was returning from work when his car broke down around 10:30 p.m. near Dranesville Manor Drive. Police said Rowley was pushing his car onto the shoulder when he was hit. The victim had activated his emergency flashers. He died at the scene. The other driver is hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Route 7 and Dranesville Manor Drive was closed several hours as a reconstruction team investigated.
“There are a lot of accidents out here, a lot of accidents that I’ve seen, but nothing like this,” a witness told ABC7.
Rowley had graduated Herndon high school and completed first year of college in South Caroline. He was considering going to culinary school and working as a summer chef at Red Robin.
He played the piano, guitar and saxophone, and practiced soccer, snowboarding and skiing.
“One thing you don’t want to do is outlive your children,” said Carl Rowle, the victim’s father.
Police say they do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Police is looking for anyone who witnesses the crash.
