Jefferson Davis Highway crash kills one

One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Jefferson Davis Highway. A minivan and another vehicle crashed around 5:40 p.m. Monday.
When Stafford County fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene at 3650 Jefferson Davis Highway, one person was trapped inside the minivan.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged. Police said that "prolonged and complicated" freeing the trapped victim." The trapped person was in critical condition, police said.
The critically injured victim was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, and succumbed to their injuries. Two other victims had minor injuries and were transported to Stafford Hospital.
Virginia State Police is investigating the accident.
