The congressionally chartered organization has scheduled a public meeting Monday afternoon in Frederick to take testimony from Army officials and scientists. An evening session is devoted to public comments and presentations from interested groups.

The Army asked the council in January to review several studies about the possible public health effects from chemicals used or dumped decades ago at Fort Detrick. The studies include a 2009 Health and Human Services finding that well water contaminated by chemical solvents from the installation was unlikely to cause health problems.
