May 9, 2011 - 06:33 am
WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. military is turning a piece of Pentagon rubble into a reminder of how the armed services responded to the Sept. 11 attack on the Defense Department headquarters.
The ceremony Monday at Fort McNair dedicates an 800-pound block of limestone facing to the service members and civilian employees of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington.
This is the last of four such presentations. Pieces of the Pentagon also have been given to the Arlington County Fire Department, the FBI and the Fire Department of New York.
