Four Blue/Orange Line Metro stations to be closed during Memorial Day weekend
Four Metro stations in the District will be shut down for the entire Memorial Day weekend as major construction and rehabilitation work hampers travel on the Blue and Orange Lines.
The Capitol South, Eastern Market, Potomac Avenue and Stadium-Armory stations will be closed starting at 10 p.m. on May 27. They are scheduled to reopen on the morning of Tuesday, May 31.
WMATA will replace track switches, repair aerial structures and lay miles of communication cable at the four stations. They'll also repair 21 escalators and eight elevators.
Trains on the Orange Line will run between New Carrolton and Minnesota Avenue on the east side of the line and between Vienna and Federal Center SW on the west side of the closure.
The Blue Line will run between Franconia-Springfield and Federal Center SW, and Benning Road and Largo Town Center.
Shuttle bus service will be available at every station.
