FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - A Frederick County sheriff's deputy is facing two more charges of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl.
A Frederick County grand jury indicted 46-year-old Sam Bowman of New Market on Friday on the two additional counts.
Bowman was originally charged with child sex abuse and a fourth-degree sex offense. State's Attorney Charlie Smith said he now faces two additional fourth-degree sex offense counts for acts alleged to have occurred with the ninth-grade student between March 9 and March 15.
Bowman had been with the sheriff's office since August and was a school resource officer at Walkersville High School. Police say they began investigating after Child Protective Services called with information from a third party.
