Frederick third grade textbook draws criticism
May 11, 2011 - 06:20 pm
A battle is brewing in the Frederick school system over its third grade textbook. Some parents are upset about what’s inside their children’s social studies book.
The textbook, “Social Studies Alive,” has been accused of pushing a political and socialist ideology by at least one parent.
The book covers geography and history. But the sections on community service, health care and child care have drawn criticism.
The District said it’s just one of a dozen books that are used.
