Nine students, two drivers injured in Clarksburg school bus accident
Updated: May 4, 2011 - 07:10 pm
Nine students and two bus drivers sustained minor injuries Wednesday when two school buses clipped each other, sending one with students inside off the road and into a tree.
The two buses were heading in opposite directions on Stringtown Road near Route 355 in Clarksburg just before 9 a.m. when one bus, which wasn't carrying any students, crossed a double yellow line.
Another bus, headed the opposite way, swerved to avoid a head-on collision. The buses still brushed each other, and the one with students from Little Bennett Elementary School went off the road and into a tree.
The injured sustained minor bumps and bruises.
The bus carrying children was heading to Little Bennett Elementary School in Clarksburg and had about 20 to 24 students.
The driver of the other bus, Eustacia Heard of Monrovia, age 36, was cited by Montgomery County Police for failure to drive right of center and negligent driving.
