Intercounty Connector traffic significantly decreases
May 14, 2011 - 07:42 am
Traffic on the first segment of the new Intercounty Connector in Montgomery County has decreased significantly since the road opened, transportation officials say.
The Maryland Department of Transportation says that 10,000 fewer cars are using the first section of the road than they expected.
The ICC's first segment, which opened in February, runs between I-370 in Gaithersburg to Georgia Avenue near Silver Spring.
MDOT expects a significant jump in traffic once the full, 19-mile highway opens. It will extend all the way to I-95 in Laurel.
