Thirteen people were injured when a Loudoun County Transit commuter bus ran off the Dulles Toll Road and slammed into a construction vehicle, which then hit a parked car, in Vienna, officials say.
All 13 patients, including the bus driver, have non-life threatening injuries. Three of them were taken to a local hospital. Fairfax County Fire officials say all of the victims were aboard the bus, which was transporting 27 passengers to Tysons Corner.
The bus driver has been charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle. Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police identified him as Wayne Bowles, 38, from Leesburg, Virginia.
No one was inside the construction truck, which was bearing a directing traffic sign, at the time of the crash.
The accident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. near Route 267 before Trap Road.
As a result of the crash, the bus spring a fuel leak.
