Man shot in Northeast, in critical condition

A man was shot in the head Northeast early Monday morning and is in critical condition, D.C. Police say.
Police responded to the 1800 block of Central Place NE, near West Virginia Avenue, at about 1 a.m. on reports of shots fired. Authorities found an adult male on the scene in critical condition. He was unconscious and not breathing when taken to the hospital.
Police records show that there have been at least two other homicides on this block in recent years.
56-year-old Robert Beidleman, Jr. Was stabbed to death in the neighborhood on April 8, 2007. Two years prior to that, 44-year-old Weldon Wade Lock was shot and killed in the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
