May 30, 2011 - 08:05 am
WASHINGTON (AP) - Government offices are closed for Memorial Day in Washington, but a visit to the city's Smithsonian museums is still possible.
The Smithsonian museums are open Monday and every day of the year except Christmas. The museums and the National Zoo open at 10 a.m.
Visitors looking for something to do can view the new portrait of Bill and Melinda Gates at the National Portrait Gallery or see the lion cubs romp at the zoo.
