Metro work to stifle Red, Orange, Blue lines
Track and station work on three lines of the Metrorail system will cause delays for riders starting late Friday night.
The work on the Red, Orange and Blue Lines are expected to begin at about 9:30 on Friday night and last through the closing of the system on Sunday night.
On the Red Line, trains will single track between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Twinbrook as repairs are made to the platform at White Flint. Trains will also share a track between New York Ave.-Florida Ave.-Gallaudet and Rhode Island Ave.-Brentwood.
Orange Line trains will single track between West Falls Church and Ballston while crews work on the Dulles Metrorail extension project.
Finally, on the Blue Line, trains will share a track between Van Dorn Street and Franconia-Springfield.
Customers are advised to add extra time to their commute while traveling through these areas.
