WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Office of Personnel Management is holding a national food drive to benefit people in need of help.
The event, called Feds Feed Families, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the Capital Area Food Bank in Northeast Washington.
The goal is to collect from federal employees more than 1.2 million pounds of food that would then be donated to food banks across the country.
Congressional employees can place nonperishable food and hygiene products until Aug. 31 in the collection bins throughout the Capital office buildings.
Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton is scheduled to participate.
