Nationals power past Braves
The Washington Nationals used a pair of three-run home runs to power their way past the Atlanta Braves 7-6 on Tuesday night.
With the Nationals leading one to nothing in the fourth inning, Laynce Nix launched a towering home run to right field with two runners aboard to give Washington a four to nothing lead against Braves ace Tim Hudson. One inning later it was Jayson Werth's turn, blasting his fifth home run of the season to left to give the Nationals a seven to one advantage.
Starter Jason Marquis got the win for the Nats to improve his record to 4-1, and Drew Storen picked up his eighth save of the season.
The same two teams will square off Wednesday, with the Nationals sending John Lannan to the mound, while the Braves will counter with Tommy Hanson.
