May 4, 2011 - 10:51 pm
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals 7-4 Wednesday night. Jason Marquis (3-1) took the loss for Washington after allowing six earned runs in just over 5 innings.
Unlike Marquis, Phillies starter Vance Worley was very sharp. Worley allowed only one run and 4 hits in six innings while striking out a career high seven batters.
Philadelphia outfielder Raul Ibanez had three hits, including a solo home run to pace the Phillies offense. Nats second baseman Danny Espinosa had the lone highlight for Washington, hitting a 3-run home run in the 9th inning.
