In the last hour of the Oprah Winfrey Show, instead of guests and surprises, the talk show queen shared what she believes are the lessons of the last 25 years.

“Everybody has a calling and your real job in life is to figure out what that is and get about the business of doing it,” she said.

At ABC7, winners of the Oprah Fan Contest laughed and cries during the last visit with an old friend. Lynn Voorhees Johns wanted to be sure that her 10-year-old daughter learned the same lessons from Oprah.

“Her message is to dream big,” she said.

Wintley Phipps of the U.S. Dream Academy in D.C. was lucky enough to be in the Chicago audience when the final show was taped yesterday. He said he met Oprah for the first time thirty years ago in Baltimore and has watched her grow since.

“To see her have that kind of strength to walk away from something, says to me it doesn't own her, she owns it,” he said.
And when she did walk away, she left her audience with this: “I won't say goodbye, I'll just say until we meet again. To God be the glory.”
