Ft. Washington 7-11 murder: Surveillance video shows suspects, masked, holding clerk up
Authorities are continuing to search for leads and suspects in the shooting death of a 7-11 employee in Ft. Washington as they review surveillance video of the robbery.
Prince George's County Police say the employee of the convenience store at 9201 Oxon Hill Rd. was robbed, then shot dead. The suspects fled the store towards Fort Foote Road.
A law enforcement source says that the victim, an Ethiopian immigrant identified as Abebayheu Jagiso, complied with the suspects, both of whom wore masks to conceal their identities. One suspect wore a mask from the movie Scream.
A source says that Jagiso was shot execution style even after he handed over the money they demanded.
Police haven’t been able to reach Jagiso’s parents in Ethiopia to break the news. Friends said Jagiso, of Alexandria, enjoyed watching movies and was hoping one day to get married.
Jagiso had been in the United States for about two months and had worked at the 7-11 for two weeks.
Police spokesman Col. Mike Rodriguez says the shooting took place at about 3:30 a.m. Authorities are pulling surveillance footage from the store.
Another employee was in the store at the time of the shooting and hid from the suspects. He was unharmed.
Workers on Friday were focused on the alarm system and replacing the cash register – which broke after one of the bullets tore through it.
