Power restored on National Mall

Update, 11:05: The power has been restored. Pepco says a construction company working at 22nd and Constitution Avenue cut an underground cable. Pepco has temporarily restored power, but may have to turn it off again to make a more permanent repair.

Earlier story:
The power is out on the west end of the National Mall. A Pepco official confirms the Lincoln Memorial and surrounding area is out of power late Thursday evening. D.C. Fire has responded to the area.
A Pepco spokesperson says there is a problem with an underground cable that feeds the area. A crew is en route to the area.
