Rodney Knight, Facebook burglar sentenced
A 19-year-old man who burglarized a home and then posted a photo of himself on the victim’s Facebook page was sentenced Wednesday.
Rodney Knight, 19, of D.C., will spend 44 months in prison on burglary and weapons charges. He had earlier pleaded guilty in February 2011 to a charge of second degree burglary. On Wednesday, he was sentenced in D.C. Superior Court on an unrelated charge of carrying a pistol without a license.
The home belonged to the Washington Post's Marc Fisher. He wrote about it in December.
Authorities said Knight broke into a Northwest D.C. home and stole laptops, a winter coat and about $400 in cash. After the burglary, he used one of the stolen laptops to photograph himself wearing the coat and flashing money. He then posted the photos on the victim’s Facebook page, authorities said.
