Sexual misconduct: Prince William reviewing process after 4 teachers charged
WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) - Prince William County school officials say the system will be reviewing its procedures in the wake of sexual misconduct charges against four teachers in the past month.
Spokesman Ken Blackstone says the school system's hiring process is not in question, noting that all 10,000 employees went through background checks before being hired.
Instead, he says the system will take a closer look at professional development.
He says principals will remind staff about expectations regarding sexual misconduct and inappropriate relationships with students.
Blackstone says the issue will be addressed during the next round of principal meetings.
The latest arrest was Thursday, when 62-year-old Woodbridge Middle School teacher David Blount was accused of inappropriately touching a 13-year-old female student. All four teachers are on administrative leave.
