Single and Mormon? Come to the D.C.-area
May 29, 2011 - 09:40 am
Is the D.C.-area is home to a “little Utah” for singles?
The Washington Post reports Sunday that a newly opened Mormon church in Crystal City is devoted to unmarried Mormons.
The paper says it serves about 800 Mormons, which is the biggest population of single Mormons served by a church outside of Utah.
Some of the Mormons interviewed said they moved to the greater D.C.-area for the same reasons as non-Mormons: For careers. If they were in Utah, they’d likely be married by this stage in their life. But like others here, they’re putting off marriage to focus on careers.
