Stefan Fields pleads guilty to robbery
A 21-year-old man has pleaded guilty in connection with a home invasion that involved a fatal shootout with police that left two dead.
Stefan Fields pleaded guilty to first degree burglary while armed and assault with intent to rob while armed. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 1 and faces 10 and ½ to 22 and ½ years behind bars.
Authorities said that on Feb. 13, 2011, Fields, along with Akeem Cayo, 21, and Dayvonne Sealy, 19, tried to rob a home in the 1000 block of Irving Street NE that was occupied by some students from Catholic University. During the robbery, police were called and soon surrounded the house.
Cayo and Sealy fled the home but were killed during an exchange of gunfire with police. Fields surrendered.
