West Springfield High School prom will go forward
May 17, 2011 - 03:19 pm
Despite the food fight at West Springfield High School, the prom will go on.
Fairfax County Schools spokesman Paul Regnier announced Tuesday that the prom will go on as scheduled. But students who took part in the May 12 food fight on campus are required to do community service.
The food fight, described as “extremely disruptive and dangerous” by the school, led officials to consider canceling prom and other activities. Several people suffered minor injuries during the fight. Witnesses say the prank turned chaotic when someone pulled a fire alarm.
Students had objected to the canceling of the prom, saying that the food fight was merely a prank.
