William Faison sentenced for sex assault
A 42-year-old man was sentenced to three years in jail Tuesday for a sexual assault that took place earlier this year in Northeast Washington, U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen Jr. announced.
William H. Faison pled guilty in March 2011. He will be required to register under the Sex Offender Registration Act for ten years.
According to government evidence, Faison entered the victim's home in the 1000 block of 44th Street NE on January 19, 2011. He had lived in the home previously, and apparently was able to enter the residence with a key around 11:20 p.m.
The victim had been sleeping in an upstairs bedroom, but heard noises downstairs. She opened her bedroom door, looked downstairs, and saw Faison standing inside her home. She screamed for Faison to go away. He ran into the victim's bedroom, removed his pants and underwear, ripped the victim's clothing, then groped her buttocks and attempted to further sexually assault her, according to the U.S. Attorney.
As the victim struggled, Faison punched, bit and choked her, and he also banged her head repeatedly against a wall. Eventually, Faison ceased his attack and fled the victim's home; she called the police. Faison was arrested on February 4, 2011 and has been in custody since.
