Yeardley Love's family, friends speak out, form One Love Foundation
One year after University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love was found dead inside her off-campus apartment, some of the people who knew Love best are speaking out.
It was a shocking and disturbing crime, a beautiful college athlete beaten to death.
Her boyfriend also a lacrosseplayer at UVA was arrested for the murder.
Now we're hearing from her friends, family and teammates about how they're keeping Love's spirit alive.
Playing for UVA's lacrosse team was a lifelong dream come true for Love. To honor her memory the team retiried Yeardley's number 1 jersey.
And her friends prompted by a national outpouring of love and support are working to keep her memory alive.
"The One Love Foundation basically was established, we say, to bring out the Yeardley in everyone," said Catherine Barthelme, a childhood friend. "The point of the foundation is to try and give positive experiences to adolescents"
Love's friends and family spoke exclusively with ABC's Good Morning America. And GMAhas put together an extended tribute to Love. You can see it here.
