14-year-old pedestrian struck, killed on Rt. 228 in Waldorf

A 14-year-old on foot was struck and killed on Route 228 in Waldorf Saturday afternoon, police say.
Maryland State troopers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at about 1:05 p.m. on eastbound MD Route 228 west of US Route 301.
The pedestrian was attempting to cross all lanes of eastbound Route 228 (Berry Road), police say, but was hit by a black Ford Expedition, driven by Glenda Natalie Thomas, 38, of Charles County. The driver remained on the scene, police say.
The pedestrian was transported to Civista Medical Center and died from the injuries.
