June 30, 2011 - 08:53 am
A Hyattsville man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car head-on in McLean.
Police say 58-year-old Brian Benson was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Authorities say Benson was traveling east on Georgetown Pike when a Mercedes, traveling west, crossed the center line of the roadway and struck him shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver of the car, 30-year-old Gabriel Arevalo-Melendez, of Sterling, is charged with reckless driving.
Georgetown Pike was closed in both directions for several hours while crash reconstruction detectives investigated.
