WASHINGTON (AP) - Washington residents get their chance this week to tell National Park Service officials how they want to access the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

The park service is holding a series of open houses to ask residents where to place piers, boat ramps, swimming areas and other means of accessing the bay and its tributaries.

An open house was held last week at the Fort McHenry visitor center in Baltimore, and the next is scheduled Monday at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington. Another open house is scheduled Tuesday in Richmond. The open houses begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.

The federal bay restoration strategy calls for providing 300 more public access sites in the bay watershed by 2025.
