COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) - Howard County police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in Columbia that has injured a county officer.
Police say 26-year-old Christopher Calcaterra was traveling in a marked police vehicle about 6 p.m. Monday when his cruiser was struck by a Honda Odyssey at the intersection of Freetown and Quarterstaff roads.
Officials say Calcaterra was trapped briefly in the vehicle and was later taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the 17-year-old driver of the Honda was traveling with two young children at the time of the accident. No one was injured.
Police say a preliminary investigation reveals the teen did not stop at a stop sign while approaching Freetown Road, which contributed to the crash.
