Daquan Precia gets 1 year in prison for SE knife attack
A D.C. woman has been sentenced to one year in prison for assaulting another woman who apparently had a relationship with her child’s father.
Daquan Precia, 20, was found guilty of assault with significant bodily injury and other related charges in connection with the November 2009 incident.
An investigation found that Precia and the victim were both dating Thomas Tyler, who is the father of Precia's child. On November 19, 2009, the victim was walking in Southeast when Precia attached her, and a fight ensued. Precia then pulled out a large knife and chased the victim down the street, authorities say. When Precia caught the victim, she stabbed her in the hand as the victim tried to fight her off.
The victim suffered a large gash, for which she received 11 stitches to close.
Prior to the attack, authorities say Precia threatened and harassed the victim on many occasions.
Following her prison term, Precia will be on supervised release for three years.
